Shortly before the Markusberg tunnel, a motorist flashed his warning lights at the driver of a green Mercedes registered in France, after the latter had thrown an object out of his window.

While overtaking the Mercedes, the prudent motorist was insulted by the other driver, who flipped him off, but the story does not end there.

The first driver was overtaken once more by the Mercedes, which tried to slow him down and eventually came to a stop on the hard shoulder shortly after the Markusberg tunnel towards Bettembourg.

Armed with a baseball bat, the driver of the Mercedes approached the other vehicle, a Seat, and started hitting it, while the owner waited in his locked car for the police to arrive. The assailant then fled the scene.

The culprit was between 35 and 50 years old, about 1.80 metres tall, of “southern European appearance,” and had black hair. His car is believed to be a green Mercedes, possibly a 2018 C-Class, with French number plates registered in Moselle. His number plate started with FK-570-(??).

Anyone who witnessed the scene and can provide useful information about the vehicle and its driver is asked to contact the Remich/Mondorf police, either by calling (+352) 244 77 1000 or by writing an e-mail to: police.remichmondorf@police.etat.lu.
