A 26-year-old man has been charged with involuntary manslaughter, as well as failing to stop and report an accident, driving under the influence of alcohol, and failing to assist a person in danger. He is currently being held in pre-trial detention after appearing before a judge on Monday morning.

The man was arrested on Sunday following a hit-and-run in Kayl in the early hours of the morning, leaving a 16-year-old boy with injuries so severe, he later succumbed in hospital.

An autopsy has been ordered for the teenage victim.

In a press release, the public prosecutor's office underlined the gravity of the offences committed by the accused, above all due to his failure to stop after the collision and his lack of concern for the victim.
