In what comes as likely bad news for cross-border commuters, the N4, which links Esch-sur-Alzette in Luxembourg to Audun-le-Tiche in France, will once again be closed to traffic from Monday. The disruption is set to last only a few days.
Although the N4 is a plain two-lane road, it carries heavy traffic, as it connects Esch-sur-Alzette, Luxembourg's second-largest city, to the border towns on the French side. Previous roadworks carried out between April and May had caused sizeable disruption in the area.
The good news is that the new works planned for the end of August will be much shorter. Undertaken by the Luxembourg National Roads Administration, they will see the N4 closed in both directions for a total of three days, from Monday 24 August at 6am until Wednesday 26 August at 10pm

A detour will be in place for the duration of the works. Drivers are advised to plan their journeys in advance and to allow themselves some extra travel time. Whether these works will be completed by the scheduled time, unlike the ones back in May, remains to be seen.
