A person was violently robbed of their necklace on Rue du Fort Wallis in Luxembourg City shortly before 5pm on Saturday.
Police were able to apprehend the suspected perpetrator soon afterwards. Following instructions from the public prosecutor's office, the individual was arrested and is set to appear before the investigating judge on Sunday.
Later that evening, a second necklace robbery was reported on Rue du Fort Neipperg, also in the city. In this case, the thief first distracted the victim by dancing before snatching the gold chain and fleeing towards Rue de Bonnevoie.
Police circulated a description of the suspect and were able to detain a person matching it shortly after. The victim identified the suspect, who was then arrested and will also appear before the investigating judge on Sunday.
In a separate incident on Saturday morning, police were called to a violent dispute between two men in Bonnevoie, who were reported to be attacking each other with bottles. Upon arrival, officers found that the same two individuals had already come to their attention earlier that day over similar disturbances.
Both men were intoxicated and did not comply with police attempts to calm the situation. As they posed a danger to themselves and others, officers took them to the station, where they underwent a medical check before being placed in temporary custody.
