Participants were given the opportunity to explore the Schumannseck site, which is steeped in the history of the Battle of the Ardennes, known as the Battle of the Bulge, and to reflect on the memory of the victims of the Second World War.
The trail is lined with tangible remnants of the wartime fighting, offering visitors a direct connection to the past. For Eric Thill, the site holds personal significance: he explained that his grandfather was forcibly conscripted during the war and later shared stories from that time.
"Schumannseck means much more to me than just a historic site", the minister said, and emphasised the importance of preserving such places and passing on their history to future generations.
The visit formed part of the "Guide for one day" programme, launched in 2017 and celebrating its tenth edition this year. The initiative encourages passionate citizens to share their knowledge and lead themed tours of locations, heritage sites, or topics close to their hearts.
Tours are organised from June to October, providing a unique way to discover Luxembourg.
