On Sunday, RTL reader Fernand Simon got in touch with RTL to share he had spotted a large group of storks in Heinerscheid, in the north of the country.
The pictures show around 50 storks standing in a field, not far from a herd of cows and with a windmill in the background.
Simon, who came across the animals, told RTL that the birds had touched down in the field late on Saturday evening, around 9pm to 9.30pm. On Sunday morning, he had a first look at the storks through his binoculars before heading out to photograph them.
It is a sight one does not come across every day in Luxembourg. Even so, back at the start of the month, some 30 white storks had already been spotted in a field between Bettel and Fouhren. As nature photographer and athlete Bob Bertemes explained to RTL in an interview at the time, storks always have to make stopovers on their journey south, and they appear to be rather fond of their layovers being in the Grand Duchy.
