Shortly after midnight on Saturday, a man in Luxembourg City's Cents quarter called the police to report a driver who ran over his foot and then crashed into a nearby bench. Police managed to locate the vehicle in Rue de la Tour Jacob. Both the driver and the woman on the passenger's seat were intoxicated. Due to the driver's refusal to cooperate during the check and his overall hostile attitude towards the police officers, he spent the night in a cell and had his licence confiscated on the spot. The pedestrian was brought to hospital for a check-up.
Another driver was pulled over by police in Rue de la Libération in Dudelange shortly after 1 am. The individual had been speeding as well as driving erratically. After a test, the driver turned out to be intoxicated.
