The popularity of drones has steadily increased over the past years. As of 31 December 2020, a new European regulation regarding the devices is in force.

On Tuesday, the responsible Luxembourgish authority, the Directorate of Civil Aviation (DAC), presented its new campaign to raise awareness of the regulation.

The main take-aways are that every person operating a drone must register themselves on myguichet.lu and complete a special online training course, organised in collaboration with Eurocontrol.

Before using a drone, people are expected to check geoportail.lu in order to check that they are not in a no-fly zone.

Other important points to keep in mind are to always keep an eye on your drone, not fly it above 120 metres, and always respect the privacy of others.
