The driver, who clearly had a guilty conscience, had no intention of stopping his vehicle and instead continued driving in the direction of the A1 motorway towards Germany.
During the subsequent pursuit, the driver tried to lose the police cars that were chasing him, even going as far as deliberately crashing into them on several occasions.
Thanks to a very well-coordinated intervention with the police department from Trier, the car - which has German number plates - could finally be stopped. The driver, who turned out to be inebriated, was arrested.
The man is currently under investigation for his failure to stop as well as driving under the influence.
