At around 12.40am, a heavily intoxicated man caused trouble on Place du Marché in Pétange, disturbing customers at a nearby bar terrace.
The man in question had left the terrace in favour of visiting a nearby building site, where he stole a metal bar. He then headed for the local police station, where he used the bar to smash a glass door to pieces.
He then returned to the bar and threw the metal bar on to the terrace, angering some of the other customers in the process. The latter then started a fight with him, leaving him with facial injuries. After the police arrived, two of the people involved in the fight handed themselves in, while an investigation was opened into the remaining brawlers.
The injured man was taken to hospital for treatment, then spent the rest of the night in a police cell to sober up.
