Council of EuropeDudelange is member of "intercultural cities" programme

RTL Today
136 cities spread across 5 continents and Dudelange is one of them! Intercultural cities have a diverse population with various nationalities and origins, and with different languages or religions.

According to the programme description, the Council of Europe "analysed the experience of a range of cities across the continent which are managing diversity as an asset, rather than as a threat." The result: 136 cities from across the globe qualified as a positively "intercultural city." Dudelange has proudly been one of them since December.

Dudelange is the first city in Luxembourg to enter the ranks of intercultural cities. This should not come as a surprise, with a 40% share of foreign-born residents and 105 different nationalities, Dudelange is a veritable cultural melting pot.

The last couple of days, two representatives of the programme spent time in Dudelange to get an impression of the city's interculturalism. Their assessment was largely positive and they concluded that Dudelange performs better in intercultural matters than many other cities.

Officials hope that Dudelange could become a pioneer and a role model for other cities in the Grand Duchy.
