Video - transporting Covid patients"Epi-Shuttle": New equipment for Luxembourg Air Rescue

RTL Today
An Air Rescue helicopter has been equipped with an isolation stretcher, and a plane with an isolation chamber.

This now allows Luxembourg's Air Rescue to treat future coronavirus patients while keeping the patient, its doctors and pilots safe.

The patient lying on the isolation stretcher, also called "Epi-Shuttle", is surrounded by a transparent sheet and can be connected to a ventilator if required.

Norwegian doctors are behind the design of the "Epi-Shuttle", which was invented three years ago and has a price tag of €60,000.

An isolation chamber was also installed in one of Air Rescue's planes. Transport is now possible even if the patient has a highly infectious disease.

Air Rescue gains new equipment for health crisisLuxembourg Air Rescue transported 50 Covid-19 patients during the pandemic, especially transferring patients from the French Grand-Est region to Luxembourgish hospitals.

Currently, helicopter activity is much higher than usual. Long-distance flights have fallen, as fewer tourists are abroad.
