Martine Hansen'Every person should receive two free rapid tests per week'

RTL Today
The CSV leader talked to our colleagues from RTL.lu about the party's aspirations for the reopening of the country, as well as their criticism of the government's approach to the vaccination campaign.

The Christian Social People's Party demands a coherent exit strategy and a perspective on life after the pandemic. Furthermore, the CSV believes that Minister of Education Claude Meisch must put in place a transparent strategy to give both parents and students clarity on how to plan ahead.

Party leader Hansen also addressed the vaccination campaign on Monday morning, which she thinks needs to be faster, more equitable, and more efficient. She also announced that the Chamber will discuss the idea of allowing greater freedom for vaccinated people. In that regard, Hansen expressed her believe that a mix of vaccinations and tests may help ease restrictions in the future.

Another critical tool in the way out of the crisis will be rapid Covid tests, Hansen noted. The government should therefore begin stocking up on these saliva tests to guarantee an intelligent exit strategy: "We demand a coherent plan for the use of rapid tests, as well as self tests, to allow for an easing of restrictions. The government needs to evaluate this matter with the help of experts and decide on a transparent strategy. We cannot risk being the last in line to get these tests. Furthermore, we believe every person should receive two free rapid tests per week."

When it comes to the post-pandemic era, the CSV argues that the Chamber should organise a debate to determine how to deal with the economy. With the help of the vaccine, Covid-19 must become a manageable virus, Hansen concluded.
