CCDH members mainly focused the discussion on medically assisted reproduction as well as surrogate mothers, saying they would welcome the introduction of a legal framework in this area. It is vital to avoid any form of discrimination in cases of assisted reproduction or adoption, they said.

Thanks to this law, every citizen should have access to medically assisted procreation in the future. The measure applies to single people but also to same-sex couples.

However, certain questions still need to be clarified, such as the criteria according to which embryos are selected or the choice of the sex of the child when hereditary diseases can be avoided.

In spite of the above, the CCDH stated surrogacy should remain prohibited in Luxembourg, as the Grand Duchy does not yet have the necessary data to be able to issue an opinion on this subject.
