Our colleagues from RTL Télé stopped by the Career Day organised by the Association of Luxembourgish Law Students (ANELD) and talked to a number of future legal experts.

The event aims to be the bridge between the students’ theoretical education and practical experience. During ANELD’s Career Day, students were able to make their first networking attempts for their future career.

Helder Gachineiro, the president of ANELD, explains that Luxembourg is of course well-known for its financial centre. The numerous international companies also attract many students from the Grand Duchy’s neighbouring countries to Kirchberg. According to Gachineiro, besides the necessary qualifications, a candidate’s personality is paramount to make a good first impression on an employer. Social skills have become a lot more important in recent times, Gachineiro points out, with many lawyers spending up to 12 hours a day in the office.

However, from the students’ point of view, the working conditions at a firm should also match their expectations.

An internship is one option that allows students to get a better idea of their potential future employer. Some 15 law firms were present at the event to meet the next generation of legal experts.
