Parliamentary questionFirst vaccine phase made up of 9,700 doses

Luxembourg will receive 9,700 Pfizer-Biontech vaccines as part of phase one, allowing around 4,850 people to be vaccinated, with two doses required per person.

Minister of Health Paulette Lenert provided this information as part of an urgent parliamentary question submitted by CSV MPs Laurent Mosar and Claude Wiseler. The date for the second delivery of vaccines in January is yet to be confirmed, but is expected to go directly to hospitals to allow further staff and carers to be vaccinated.

On Monday 28 December the vaccine campaign will be launched at the Victor Hugo Hall in Limpertsberg, which has been converted into a vaccine centre. The first phase at the centre will see healthcare staff from hospitals and nursing homes vaccinated over a period of three days, with around 430 vaccines given per day.

The centre will reopen for the second doses of the vaccine some three weeks later, on 18 January.
