Belgian authorities were initially scheduled to take a decision on Wednesday. However, several options are currently still on the table: liquidation, a new deadline, or a resumption. According to RTBF reports, a decision is now to be expected within the next two weeks.
Minister of the Economy Franz Fayot explained that there is still no credible financing plan for the Dudelange site and that negotiations have reached a deadlock. Although there is a search for someone to take over, the politician was unwilling to convey any details during this “extremely critical phase”.
The decision not to award partial unemployment to the Dudelange site was taken by the conjuncture committee, meaning jointly with unions, Minister Fayot further noted.
