Shortly after midnight on Friday, at around 12.40am, police were called to a burglary at a house on rue Laangert in Bettange-sur-Mess. The burglar gained entry by breaking a window and entering through the garden, stealing cash among the items. Despite searching the area, police have so far been unable to locate the suspect.
Police were also called to another incident reported on Thursday in Luxembourg City, where two men allegedly stole a gold chain. According to initial reports, the two suspects approached their victim and the victim’s companion on Rue des Capucins. One of the assailants initiated conversation to get closer, and moments later, the victim realised their gold chain had disappeared.
The victim’s companion pursued the suspects and managed to apprehend one of them near Place du Théâtre until police arrived. The second suspect escaped. The detained individual was taken into custody following orders from the public prosecutor's office and appeared before an investigating judge the following day. Police investigations into the theft are continuing.
In a separate incident, a man was robbed of his watch as he was leaving a café on Rue du Nord in Luxembourg City. The suspect approached the victim, forcibly removed the watch from his wrist, and managed to flee the scene. Police have launched an investigation into the incident.
In a separate incident in the Gare district, a man was attacked while boarding a tram. According to initial reports, the suspect had previously engaged the victim in conversation. When the tram arrived at the station, the attacker suddenly hugged the man and tore a gold chain from his neck before escaping.
Police also received a report that three individuals were showing a knife to fellow passengers and taking photos of it while on a train. When the train stopped in Bettembourg, officers carried out an inspection of the group. During the search, police seized not only the knife but also pepper spray and a small amount of cannabis. By order of the public prosecutor's office, personal details were recorded for two of the individuals involved.
Later that evening, officers responded to two separate disputes. In Erpeldange, a man damaged property during an altercation with a woman and also physically assaulted her. Due to his increasingly aggressive behaviour and the risk he posed to himself and others, police took him into custody. A formal report was filed on charges including bodily harm and property damage.
