
Police patrols were alerted to a fight in the early hours of Wednesday on rue de Strasbourg in Luxembourg City’s Gare district. Officers arrived to find a man lying unconscious on the pavement in front of a café. According to the police bulletin, preliminary findings suggest the altercation began as a verbal dispute between the man and another individual, before escalating into physical violence. The injured man received first aid at the scene and was subsequently taken to hospital for further treatment.
The suspected attacker, who was still at the scene, appeared intoxicated and was uncooperative with the authorities. Police decided to detain him and placed him in a sobering-up cell due to his condition.
Following instructions from the public prosecutor’s office, the suspect was formally arrested. He appeared before an investigating judge on Wednesday afternoon, who ordered that he be remanded in pre-trial detention. Police investigations into the incident are ongoing.
