The party regrets that the current investment plan only generates help for those who already possess the financial means to invest into clean energy, while the less fortunate part of the population remains entirely unable to contribute to climate protection.

On Thursday in front of press, the Left reiterated their frustration with the government's strategy, using the occasion to once more refer to their alternative policies, which would render energy efficient redevelopment accessible to everyone and aid Luxembourg achieve its climate goals in the area of infrastructure.

The first part of the proposition envisions direct financial assistance in form of "non-refundable aids", as well as refundable support, which should be calculated according to income.

The strategy also conceives of a prioritisation of homes most in need of redevelopment, which could be identified by municipalities and their respective social offices. The party therefore suggests the creation of a "public service of housing", which would supervise the financing and coordinating of projects.

The Left moreover emphasised their standpoint on property owners, who should not be allowed to raise rent if they receive governmental support in general, but rather only in specific cases.

A respective motion was already accepted by the chamber in December, receiving votes from all parties. Déi Lénk have now voiced their frustration that their concept remains unimplemented to this day.
