The coronavirus crisis aggravated most problem areas that already existed before the pandemic. The Grand Duchess and the foundation thus reinforced their efforts in supporting people who suffer in isolation, as well as helping the cancer foundation, student and senior associations, and women in distress.
Beyond Luxembourg's borders, the foundation has been active in Burundi and Afghanistan, where they helped to sew masks and prepare young adult girls for university life.
When asked about the Grand Ducal couple's Christmas holidays in Biarritz, Majerus stated his belief that it did not negatively affect the foundation. He noted that their charitable work speaks for itself and that all other controversies had been resolved through the statements by PM Xavier Bettel and the court itself.
