The environmental organisation has accused the pension reserve fund of "greenwashing" following their May 2020 analysis of its investments. Of the €19 billion intended for sustainable investments, in the last year alone €256 million went to coal companies.

Martina Holbach, campaign manager at Greenpeace, said more and more money is being invested in fossil fuels in spite of the climate crisis. The fund claimed to have a sustainable investment policy, but Greenpeace described this as "greenwashing" and not representative of actual investments.

Three weeks ago, Greenpeace launched a petition via email, addressing the government and MPs in an attempt to dissuade them from investing in fossil fuels.
