Traffic disruptionGuard rail prevents lorry from overturning in Roost

adapted for RTL Today
On Monday morning, a lorry almost tipped over on its side and was held in place only by a guard rail.

The heavily laden vehicle veered onto the verge on the right hand side, coming to rest next to the crash barrier. Due to its weight, the lorry is believed to have sunk into the ground before tipping to the right on to the path. The driver was fortunate that the guard rail prevented the vehicle from overturning completely or rolling down the embankment, which could have led to a far more serious accident.

The road had to be closed to traffic while the lorry was recovered.
