According to a Statec survey of 4,000 residents, people in Luxembourg go on holiday at least five times a year on average.
Last year resulted in historic highs for holidays, with 5.2 trips a year. Holiday costs are also at an all-time high, with the average trip costing €1,304. Around 83% of participants spent a night away from home at least once in 2025.
Statec reported 2.9 million trips among 470,000 people in Luxembourg.
France remains the most popular destination, ahead of Germany, Portugal, Italy and Spain. Over half of all journeys are made by car, and the trips often last a week or less. City trips are most popular among Luxembourgers, with a third heading to the seaside, and 12% to the mountains.
Business trips, unlike leisure trips, have reduced among Luxembourg residents. Just 16% of those who work spent a night abroad on business last year.
