A heat-related technical fault is currently causing major problems on two railway lines near Berchem. Luxembourg's national railway company CFL announced on Monday afternoon that severe disruption is affecting services between Luxembourg City and Esch-sur-Alzette and Rodange, as well as between the capital and Thionville and Metz. The high temperatures, according to an official statement, have caused a technical breakdown, with only "an extremely limited number of trains" currently running on both lines.

The CFL regrets the disruption and is asking customers to take the necessary precautions for their journeys given the hot weather. The operator also points out that free water fountains are available at the station and around the city.

It is not yet known when regular services will be able to resume. CFL technicians are working on a solution on site.
