Schaffner sat in the municipal council from 1988 to 1998, as the first woman ever.
She was mayor of the town from 1994 to February 1998, just as her father Robert Schaffner, and her grandfather Mathias Schaffner, before her.
She was also active in the Scouts her entire life, first at the AGGL, then at the FNEL.
