Some concern pandemic-related restrictions. One calls for the lifting of the curfew. Another demands the re-opening of the Horesca sector. One is also calling for the sector to be exempt of paying social benefits.
Yet another proposes to introduce a list of people who are willing to take the vaccine. In this way, the government would save crucial time by avoiding to contact people who refuse to be jabbed.
Another proposal demands the introduction of three bank holidays across the EU after the pandemic.
One petition is also calling for gyms to be reopened, although with the obligation to wear a face mask.
Others reflect societal matters. One demands that a father is recognised as such and not put down as “other birth parent”. Another entry proposes that non-married couples should also be allowed to adopt children. And one petition demands that there should be an equal number of male and female toilets at work.
Yet another petition is calling for people to be allowed to carry non-lethal weapons such as tasers. Another wants a mandate for drivers to have their lights on at all times.
An environmental entry demands that landowners should be required to plant at least one tree on their property to foster biodiversity.
Should a petition gather more than 4,500 signatures within 6 weeks it will be debated in parliament. A petition that is calling for the BTS diploma to be recognised by the state looks likely to reach that threshold. It has garnered 80% of the required signatures and has 30 days left to acquire the remainder.
Parliament has also launched a new website where you can deposit and sign petitions: petitiounen.lu.
