The tornado that hit Luxembourg on Friday seems to have brought out the best in people: amongst support groups, calls for donations and online fundraisers, the show of solidarity has been relentless.
The municipalities of Bascharage and Pétange assured that all donations and money raised would be used exclusively to compensate for damage not covered by the victims’ insurance, announcing the associations that would coordinate fund allocations.
Additionally, a management committee has been set up with the specific aim of verifying that the money is being used for these purposes alone. Two aldermen college members of the municipalities concerned and two members of the organisation committees – Käerjeng hëlleft and Fir e gudden Zweck-Gemeng Péiteng – constitute the committee.
To make a donation, one need only send money to the accounts listed below and put "Käerjeng Tornado/Pétange" as reference.
Authorities have appealed to companies in construction and roofing to help with initial emergency measures and to secure buildings/other infrastructure.
