Only one in three households checks gas and electricity bills before paying them, a survey conducted by research panel TNS Ilres found.
A quarter of survey respondents said that it was difficult to understand the bills.
The overall conclusion of the survey is that not enough people are well-informed when it comes to the gas and electricity market.
The majority of the respondents also said they would be willing to change their consumer habits in this area to reduce both their bills and their environmental footprint.
