From next Monday, the Knuedler car park will be closed for five months to everyone except those with a permanent permit.

To speed up the building works, the city authority has decided to close levels -2 and -3 from Monday 21 June until the end of November this year.

The car park will be extended, with the works expected to finish in May 2022, offering an additional 750 parking spaces in the middle of the city.

Along with the new construction, the existing car park will be renovated one level at a time, leaving only the topmost level for long term tenants and those who own a spot, said mayor Lydie Polfer.

The closure will further inconvenience drivers in the city, as there are already two car parks (Saint-Esprit and parking des Martyrs in the Gare quarter) currently closed.

The city authority hastens to point out that there are still many spaces available: 340 at the parking Monterey, 354 at Royal-Hamilius, 335 at place du Théâtre and 400 week-end spots at parking rond-point Schuman.
