Luxembourg City has unveiled its programme for the upcoming National Day celebrations, which officially fall on 23 June but traditionally begin the previous day.

The festivities will kick off on Monday, 22 June, with the changing of the guard in front of the Grand Ducal Palace at 4pm. At 9.30pm, the traditional torchlight procession – featuring some 2,800 participants – will set off from Place du Théâtre. Simultaneously, Grand Duke Guillaume and Grand Duchess Stéphanie will be welcomed to Place Guillaume II by Mayor Lydie Polfer and the municipal executive board. The torchlight procession will be followed at 11pm by a fireworks display launched from the Adolphe Bridge.

Numerous concerts and events are planned across various squares in the capital that evening. At the Glacis, the main City Sounds stage will host six artists consecutively from 8.30pm, including Nicky Romero.

On Tuesday, 23 June, the official National Day programme begins at 10am with a ceremony at the Philharmonie. A 21-gun salute in honour of the Grand Duke will follow at the Fetschenhof at 11am, with the traditional military parade on Avenue de la Liberté starting at 12pm. The Te Deum will be held at 4.30pm at Notre-Dame Cathedral, in the presence of the Grand Ducal family.

As is customary, Spillfest, a day of games and workshops for children, will take place from 10am to 6pm on the Kinnekswiss, the section of the municipal park along Avenue de la Porte-Neuve. Adjacent to it, at the Glacis, City Sounds will resume from 5.30pm with several free concerts. Among the performers is Luxembourg's Eurovision 2024 representative Tali, scheduled for 6.30pm, with the evening's highlight – a concert by OneRepublic – set for 9pm.

Road closures are inevitable on both the eve of National Day and the day itself. Shuttle buses will operate from the Park & Ride facilities around the city centre to compensate. Tram services will run almost as normal, with the exception of the evening of 22 June, when services between the Hamilius and Place de Metz stops will be suspended from 6.45pm until shortly after midnight due to the fireworks.
