This is the conclusion the Association of Doctors and Dentists of Luxembourg has come to after reviewing the previous year's health policies. It seemed like the Ministry for Social Security especially has its foot on the breaks: after a panel discussion on health was promised before the summer, nothing has come of it.

The AMMD does welcome Paulette Lenert as future Minister of both Health and Social Security, as this will hopefully streamline political processes. In that respect, AMMD President Alain Schmit noted there was no point in bringing different health policies into effect if they don't make it to the social security department.

The organisation has also suggested setting up a separate ambulance system that doesn't depend on hospitals but works with them in close collaboration. This would be financed through activity rather than hospital budgets. Hospitals themselves would also have representatives on the ambulance board of management.

Lastly, there should be an emphasis on preventative medicine. It would be feasible to imagine that people who pay annual visits to their GP might be able to access certain advantages and refunds, as they do with dentists.
