The institution’s new slogan is “actor of security - creator of perspectives”. The well-being of people is to be at the heart of efforts undertaken in the daily life of the prison administration, explained director Legil.
Minister Tanson further announced that a pilot project will be launched to help bring cultural activities into the prison. The government is set to invest €30,000. Non-profits can apply for the project with their respective activity proposals until 15 March.
Eight inmates at the Schrassig prison are currently infected with Covid-19. Director Legil underlined that this represents a clear decrease compared to previous weeks. Minister Tanson further noted that the situation in the prison will always be exceptional due to the number of people living in close proximity.
Officials explained that there are continuous efforts to manage the situation, but that the rise in infections in the general population may very well affect the prison population soon. Masks and social distancing are still in place, but regulations are not as strict as they have been before.
