
Roughly 90% of all trips are currently suspended due to coronavirus for the average taxi company in Luxembourg. The situation is especially critical for independent taxi drivers. As a supportive measure, their license fees have been waived for this current period.
From 150 drivers only some 25 taxis are currently on the road. A part of the workforce has applied for partial unemployment. The situation is dire for the industry.
Precuations have been taken for both drivers and passengers, such as wearing gloves and disinfecting the car for the drivers, and paying by card for the customer. Plexiglas between the front and back may be installed in the near future.
The virus is also taking its toll on the carsharing sector, which has seen a steep decline of trips by 50%.
