Two members of the Grand Ducal Fire and Rescue Corps have been deployed on the humanitarian mission. Aside from manpower, they will also bring mobile communication equipment to Haiti.

The plan is to restore telecommunication networks in buildings that were damaged or destroyed. Both CGDIS members will fly to Haiti from Paris.

Last week, one member from the Luxembourgish emergency services already joined the UN team on the ground in Haiti to help assess damages.

More than 2,200 people lost their lives during the earthquake. About 300 people are still missing.
