Some people have recently received emails concerning alleged parcels addressed to them which have been seized by customs officials. The emails, coming from a purported 'Service des douanes' then requests the addressee pay a fee to access the parcel in question.
On Wednesday, the government's Customs and Excise Agency released a statement assuring residents it never sends out emails asking for recipients of parcels to pay customs' fees. The emails are a scam and should be deleted.
The agency has reported the emails to the police and advised recipients to do the same. Those affected should also change their passwords.
