In his reply to a parliamentary question by MP Fernand Kartheiser from the Alternative Democratic Reform Party (adr), the Prime Minister states that the Luxembourgish government will not intervene to prevent the extradition of Fränk Schneider to the USA. The former employee of Luxembourg’s homeland intelligence agency (SREL) was detained by French police in April 2021 in connection with the ‘One Coin’ case at the request of US judicial authorities.

In 2021, Schneider was held in custody for seven months in France. Since his release, he has been under house arrest and has to wear an ankle monitor. Schneider’s request not to be extradited to the United States was recently denied by the Court of Cassation in France. In the United States, the former SREL employee is expected to face a lengthy prison sentence.

He is charged with wire fraud conspiracy and money laundering conspiracy. Schneider insists that he is not guilty.
