Although demographic growth stalled a little in 2020, the numbers have once again risen to pre-pandemic figures, according to STATEC.

In 2021, the Grand Duchy’s population grew by 10,667 people, bringing the total population to around 645,400 people. According to a STATEC report published on Thursday, the increase was primarily driven by immigration.

Last year, 6,690 babies were born, while 4,489 people passed away. The average man in Luxembourg lives to be 80.3 years old while women live to 84.8.

In 2021, weddings just about topped the number of divorces. 1,945 weddings took place, compared to 1,400 divorces which were finalised last year.
