On Friday evening, a fire began at a garage beneath the bridge in the capital, as rubber burned and caused large amounts of black smoke.
The construction site on Pont Büchler began in January, as part of the development for a multi-modal bridge with space for cars, trams and bicycles.

The incident resulted in the closure of the bridge between the central station and Bonnevoie. Trains were also affected by the fire. The area was eventually reopened at 10.30pm on Friday, after experts had checked the bridge supports for damage.

In Esch-sur-Alzette, a bin caught fire on Avenue du Rock'n Roll shortly after 10pm. Sanem and Differdange fire fighters dealt with the incident.
