A man who is yet to be identified stopped a passerby on rue Jean Pierre Probst in Luxembourg City on Sunday around 10.40pm. Things quickly took a violent turn from there.

The unknown suspect first tried to sell drugs to the passerby, who did not react to the offer.

The would-be drug dealer then asked the other man if he could borrow his phone. The man refused and continued his walk. The suspect then threw him on the ground, beat him, and stole his phone as well as €50 in cash.

Police have not yet identified the suspect and therefore appeal to potential witnesses to come forward.

The suspect is believed to be between 25 and 30 years old. He has dark skin colour and is between 1.70 and 1.75m tall. He wore a dark green hoodie and a black jacket.

Witnesses are urged to contact police at 244 40 1000.
