
The pandemic has had an adverse affect on lawyers in the country, according to Dupong, especially those working for small firms. Here, discussions are taking place on what direction their firm will take in the future, but no one knows what concrete decisions will ultimately be taken. This uncertainty, often in combination with burnouts or difficult financial situations, need to be addressed.
Dupong would like to increase transparency at the bar, for example with more free consultations on Saturdays, for which demand has been growing in the last years.
With regards to reforms and access to a legal profession, the complementary course in Luxembourgish law will require an entry exam, which would be in paperless form.
The low income of young lawyers remains a hot topic, but a difficult one simultaneously, as many of these young lawyers do not register themselves with the association, meaning a loss of data and insight.
It remains a difficult profession, but Dupong is keen on opening up the debate and supporting her colleagues in the upcoming two years as president.
