Vaccination campaignMore than 500 doctors have volunteered to help: Paulette Lenert

On 1 February, MP Marc Goergen (The Pirate Party) put forward a parliamentary enquiry about the national vaccination campaign.

Minister of Health Paulette Lenert has now issued an official response, delineating some of the details around the vaccination process.

Once the second phase of the campaign is set to start at the beginning of March, doctors will decide whether or not a person should be vaccinated. Patients will therefore be informed straight away whether or not they should still consult a physician prior to making an appointment. Doctors become responsible for the medical procedure and will also decide which vaccine is best suited for a patient.

At the moment, the mobile units operating in the country's senior and care homes are using the Pfizer/BionTech vaccine, due to the fact that transporting the one from Moderna is more complex.

When it comes to specialised personnel in the vaccination centres, Minister Lenert notes that the country is well-prepared. 51 nurses and over 500 doctors volunteered so far. Naturally, all now depends on the amount of vaccine units the Grand Duchy receives.
