The Moselle river is a vital part of ship transport due to its connection to the Rhine. However, since the Luxembourgish river has been shut down for freighters, the sector has been suffering from a lack of assignments.
The water line reached a peak level of 5 metres and 57 centimetres in Remich, which has been declining over the past couple of hours and is expected to go below critical levels early on Sunday. Nevertheless, no decision has yet been taken as to when the river will be able to accommodate freight traffic again. The Rhine is still fighting similar issues at the moment.
