Open-air gatherings and in private will be limited to 20 people.
Thus far, this was only a recommendation, but will now become law.
Gatherings with more people are technically allowed, but will be subjected to the same rules as public places: distanced seating, or mandatory masks.
The police will not be carrying out checks on private residences, while customers in bars and restaurants must take more personal responsibility.
Service will only be permitted for customers seated at tables. Customers who ignore the rule and choose to drink in a bar while standing, for example, can be penalised, as can managers of the establishments if they allow this behaviour.
The law, once confirmed by MPs, will initially be valid until 30 September.
