Police were called out close to 90 times across Luxembourg overnight from Friday, 31 July, to Saturday, 1 August, dealing with a range of public disturbances including noise complaints, disputes, fights, and other breaches of public order. According to the police report, around 40 of these callouts were related to noise complaints. In most cases, officers found that the situation had already settled by the time they arrived, or they were able to resolve the issue on site without incident.
While the majority of situations were quickly brought under control, three incidents required more significant police intervention.
The first occurred on Place de la Gare in Luxembourg City at around 6.15pm on Friday, where police were called to a dispute between several individuals. One man involved in the altercation became increasingly agitated and aggressive. As officers were unable to calm him down and judged him to be a risk to himself and others, he was taken into temporary police custody following a medical examination.
Later, at approximately 11.15pm in Rodange, police responded to calls about a heavily intoxicated man harassing passers-by on Rue de la Gendarmerie. Officers found him barely able to stand, and after a medical assessment, he was also placed into temporary police custody for his own safety and that of others.
About twenty minutes later, police in Rodange were called out again, this time to Route de Longwy where a man was found standing in the street, shouting and confronting local residents. As he continued to disturb the peace and would not calm down, officers placed him into temporary police custody to sober up.
