
48,000 residents were tested over the last week, according to the Ministry of Health's latest update on Wednesday evening. 281 positive cases were identified, which translates to 46 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, thus falling under the threshold of 50 per 100,000 for the third consecutive week.
Around 9,400 tests were carried out through a GP prescription, while 31,400 were tested as part of the large-scale testing scheme. 3,850 tests took place using the vouchers issued at Findel airport.The number of contacts related to the 281 positive cases rose slightly, from 1,496 to 1,510.Active infections rose by 9 in a week, to 580 from 571. The number of patients who have recovered increased from 5,984 to 6,256.The virus reproduction rate dropped from 1.06 to 1.02, while the rate of positive tests dropped from 0.76% to 0.59%.The average age of the new cases has dropped sharply from 35 to 31 years of age.Quarantine

Majority of infections from abroad
126 of the 281 new cases were traced back to holidays abroad, representing 46% of infections, compared to 52% the previous week. 20% of new cases (57) were traced back to contamination within families, 5 cases were traced to family gatherings or parties. 14 cases were connected to 4 clusters which were discovered last week.
