Luxembourg City "will not organise fireworks this year" said Lydie Polfer before adding: "we will have to celebrate differently this year". The mayor noted that anyone wanting to set off fireworks in the capital requires prior permission and that the curfew will still apply on 31 December.
In Dippach, residents will be allowed to launch fireworks between midnight and quarter past midnight. This is similar in Vianden and Garnich. In Biwer, however, the person setting off fireworks is responsible for any damage that the rockets may cause.
For their part, the municipal authorities of Schuttrange advise giving up fireworks on New Year's Eve out of respect for the environment, residents and animals. But they do not prohibit them. For the residents of the locality who still wish to host a fireworks display, the town hall recommends doing so in a reduced time period (a quarter of an hour before and after midnight) and to respect the usual rules of caution as well as the current coronavirus restrictions.
The College of Mayors and Aldermen of the municipality of Wahl calls on citizens to renounce fireworks and firecrackers in the interest of public order and safety, animals, buildings and the environment.
The police regulations of the commune of Mondorf state that any firework display is subject to a request for prior authorisation addressed to the mayor. Obtaining permission will depend on the day chosen as well as whether or not the organisation is private. This provision also applies on New Year's Eve. The regulations do not provide for an exception to this date.
The municipal authorities of Junglinster call on residents to use fireworks on New Year's Eve responsibly and point out that it is forbidden to light them near buildings. They also suggest limiting the duration and intensity of the show.
The municipalities of Kehlen and Helperknapp have also banned fireworks and firecrackers in their localities as well as in a perimeter of 100 metres around the village limits.
The town hall of Sanem writes that fireworks cannot be lit up on the territory of the municipality without having obtained the prior authorisation of the mayor.
