FindelNo parking refund for plane delays

Lux-Airport "absolutely not" liable to reimburse people in the case of delays causing additional parking costs.

On average, 5,500 passengers land at Findel airport every day, according to the Air Navigation Administration.

Once landed, individuals go through the motions of passport control and collecting their suitcases before making their way over to whichever means of transport they may rely upon for the next leg of their journey - bus, taxi or car (soon to include tram!).

When it comes to the dreaded luggage wait, Findel airport actually performs rather well in comparison to others. A study conducted by Blacklane even established the Luxembourgish airport as one the fastest airports when it came to the period of time it took between disembarking the aircraft and leaving the airport with an average of 16 minutes.

Findel is Fastest: Luxembourg airport is the fastest airport in the worldThese were the numbers proffered up by Minister of Mobility François Bausch in response to a parliamentary question posed by the Pirate Party's Sven Clement.

Clement also wanted to know whether parking should not be free of charge, or indeed whether additional fees due to plane delays should be reimbursed.

Both questions were met with a firm "No". Lux-Airport would "absolutely not" be liable to pay compensation in the case of a delayed flight, and neither would parking fees be scrapped. According to Minister Bausch, parking was a service provided which people could either take or leave. Furthermore, he claimed that the parking costs were amongst the cheapest when compared on an international scale. What official numbers the minister was basing these assertions on, remains unclear, however.
