LuxTrust and 3D Secure users, as well as some bank customers, have been targeted by scammers over SMS and email. The messages, which emulate the real things, seek to encourage clients to update their details by clicking a link.

Users who have clicked the false links should contact their bank or LuxTrust customer service (+352) 24 550 550.

Below is an example of one of the phishing emails.

TIPS TO PROTECT AGAINST DATA THEFT

Users are encouraged to protect their digital identity (username, password, card code) and avoid sharing these with third parties.

In a press release, LuxTrust has listed several recommendations to help protect a user's identity:

  • Check the e-mail address of each sender carefully and do not open messages whose sender you do not know or whose e-mail address seems questionable.
  • Do not click on the links or open the attachments.
  • Never communicate your personal data and your LuxTrust identifiers.
  • If you do not see your secret image when using the Token or a LuxTrust chip product, outside the context of online shopping, immediately stop the transaction.
  • When it comes to updating your data, use the official communication channels that you have already used with your bank.
