
Police logged more than 45 reports relating to disputes and nighttime disturbances between Saturday, 10pm and Sunday, 8am. Complaints ranged from excessively loud music and noise in apartments or public areas to incidents of domestic violence.
At around 10.50pm on Saturday, an aggressive individual was reported on Boulevard Royal in Luxembourg City after attempting to assault Luxtram security staff. The security team was able to restrain the person until police arrived. The individual was subsequently subjected to a medical check and taken into temporary police custody.
Shortly after midnight, a dispute broke out between a couple on Route de Luxembourg in Junglinster. Officers found a man with an injury to his hand at the scene. During an argument with his partner, he had smashed the passenger-side window of a car and injured himself in the process. According to the police report, he behaved provocatively and threateningly toward the officers, so he had to be restrained. When his handcuffs were removed at the police station, he punched one of the officers in the face. He was also placed in temporary police custody.
Another case of domestic violence involving two former partners in Esch was reported on Saturday morning. The public prosecutor’s office requested a report for assault and battery to be drawn up.
